About Me
Qualifications
Hi, I’m Will. I’m a freelance editor, writer, and publishing professional who loves helping put new stories into the world. I work with everyone from traditional and independent publishers to writers looking to self-publish or prepare their manuscripts. Each new piece offers something to sink my teeth into, and I truly believe there’s no better feeling than helping someone’s writing be the best it can possibly be.
I work with every genre you can possibly imagine, but have an affinity for intricate texts that require dense research/fact checking and worldbuilding—non-fiction, historical fiction, speculative fiction, and fantasy. Still, literary fiction is one of my favourite genres to read, and I’m a romantic at heart. If you write it, I’m eager to read and edit it. I also love reading queer characters and welcome diversity in anything I edit.
Creativity is a necessity in my life; as well as editing, providing clear and engaging copy is something I’m immensely passionate about.
After completing my Bachelor of Arts, I went on to complete my Master of Creative Writing, Editing and Publishing at the University of Melbourne. I’ve worked as a structural and copy editor at Grattan Street Press, where I edited Najis: A Memoir by Robert Douman which was longlisted for Hachette’s Richell Prize in 2025 for unpublished manuscripts. I’m also a member of the Institute of Professional Editors.
I’ve had poetry published in Farrago Magazine and was shortlisted for the Above Water anthology in 2023; I’ve also published reviews and feature pieces for Radio Fodder.
