About Me
Hi, I’m Will. I’m a freelance editor whose life revolves around publishing. I offer editing and writing services no matter the genre or form. After completing my Master of Creative Writing, Publishing and Editing at the University of Melbourne, and work as a structural and copy editor at Grattan Street Press, I discovered that I love editing just as much as writing.
I believe that to be a great editor, you have to understand all that goes into the creative process. I always approach editing another’s writing care and sensitivity but also helpful, industry driven feedback.

Assessment
For when you’ve finished your manuscript and need some guidance on all of its elements and how it might sit in the publishing world.
Structural
Editing
The most detailed stage of the editing process. This focuses on improving your work’s big picture elements as well as things like chapter order and structure.
Line
Editing
The most laborious, but my favourite part of editing. This goes line by line and aims to improve the voice, clarity, language, and style of your prose.
Copyediting
The last hands-on editing stage. This pays close attention to your writing’s technical aspects like grammar, spelling, consistency, accuracy, and readability.
Proofreading
This checks and corrects any errors missed during copyediting; for page proofs, any formatting and style choices not carried over during typesetting are flagged.
Writing
A diverse and flexible service that covers everything from sharp copywriting for advertisements and websites, to long-form writing like news articles and essays.

My Approach
One of my main goals is to foster supportive, healthy relationships with authors. Having your writing edited can be a vulnerable process, so I always make reliable and sensitive communication a top priority. I’m also just naturally chatty, so you’ll never catch me leaving my emails unchecked for days—I do my best to respond within 48 hours.
AI is a tool becoming increasingly popular in the publishing and writing world. It speeds things up, but often introduces more errors than solves them. Like other professionals, I don’t use AI during editing. Additionally, I don’t work on AI-generated manuscripts—I want to help elevate your writing.
